Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging

YA FICTION RENNISON

The True Confessions of Georgia Nicolson.....   In diary form this story is   mmmmmhehehehhahaha  snicker, well, this story.    is about a british girl and her messed-up scarry life.     She is surrounded by the SG (sex god - who hates her or so she thinks....) , a cat that is half domestic tabby and half Scottish wildcat (who is determined to eat the neighbor's poodle) her dad who has the mentality of a teletubby (only not as advanced) and a cast of friends, so called friends.

This book is worth reading because it is so funny!  But not stupid and not gross - it covers very important issues to the youth of today -   like how to properly apply lipgloss to make your nose look smaller and how to deal with younger sibling with exploding "knickers".

In the Forests of the Night
By Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
Reviewed by Rhea Byran
10th Grade  - Home School

In The Forests of The Night is described by some, as a dark faerie tale.

You can read through this author's novel very quickly, it grabs your attention and refuses to let go. This book doesn't seen like a book at all, but more like a poem. That feeling may occur, because the author wrote the book centering around. William Blake's poem, "The Tiger," with the first stanza saying;

Tiger! Tiger! Burning bright,
In the forests of the night,

What Immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

Regardless, this great book taking place in the year 1701, is about a 17 year old girl being turned into a vampire against her will, and being forced to accept who she is now. The girl's name was, Rachel, but after being turned into a vampire, her name became, Risika. Risika has to go through all of the memories of her past life... the death of her twin brother, and the love for her family.

Amelia Atwater-Rhodes was born on April 16, 1984 --- that very date in 1998, on her fourteenth birthday, Amelia found out that her first novel,

In the Forests of the Night, was accepted for publication. This book was written when the author was thirteen years old. I believe that the author uses a vocabulary that most people wouldn't expect a thirteen year old to use.

Amelia uses eye catching sentences like, "Never before and never after have I  felt the soul-tearing, mind-bearing pain I experienced that night."- quoted from the beginning of Chapter 7.

I recommend  that people who are into vampires and the paranormal to read this book. I believe that it is an interest to teens and adults.

I read Saratoga Secret and liked it a lot.  It was a historica fiction book about the Revolutionary War.  The book was based on a 16-year-old girl's life as her father joins the war.  A friend finds a letter from the British General to the king.  The girl faces many dangers as she takes it to Gereral Benedict Arnold and saves the army from attack.

This is  the book I recommend and I think other people will like it just as much as I

A fourteen-year-old girl named Dicey is abandoned in a mall parking lot with her two younger brothers and sister. She has to take care of them while finding their way to their aunt’s house. On the way, they go through different problems and cities, while making and losing friends. Dicey and her siblings have no food or money but Dicey tries to make money by doing different jobs, but the money she gets is not enough to support all four children.

I thought that Dicey’s Song was a good book. There are lots of problems that Dicey goes through with her brothers and sister. One of the problems is that her cousin wants to separate them. Another problem is that the kids find out that their mother is in the hospital. She goes through everything never being separated from her family.

I recommend this book, it's thrilling and interesting.
